Captioned Cinema Club in Sydney
After its successful establishment in Melbourne the Deaf Cinema Club has come to Sydney.
The Sydney Deaf Cinema Club is a non-for-profit organisation run by volunteers with the purpose of organising Open Captions sessions at Cinemas in Sydney.

The first screening in Sydney is at Events Parramatta on Friday March 7 at 6:15 pm. A screening of Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom
All tickets must be purchased through Deaf Cinema Club, deafcinemaclub+sydney@gmail.com
Please make sure to state in the email how many types of tickets you want.
EARLY BIRD OFFER: If you book before the 1st of March you will get a discount!
$15 Adult, $12 Concession/Senior/Under 18.
Bookings between 1st March and 7th March will be
$18 Adults and $15 Concession/Senior/Under 18.

A big "hear, hear" for new theatre app!
Sue Daw from Canberra branch has been featured in the Canberra Times in an article about theatre captioning via an iDevice (iPhone, iPad or Android) app* "Go Theatrical"

This new technology provides another way to get captions where previously there were none.
The app has been produced by the Captioning Studio, winner of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s 2011 Human Rights Award for Business - more info here

Two more captioned cinemas

15th Japanese Film Festival
Don't know about you but I don't understand Japanese. So, all Japanese movies in Australia are subtitled, don't need to rely on captions so much because they're already there!! Soundtrack music is another kettle of fish...
